Napoli’s club president has appeared to confirm that manager Antonio Conte will leave just three days after guiding them to the Serie A title.

Conte, 55, only joined Napoli at the beginning of the 2024-25 season, but already appears to be preparing to move on.

As quoted by Football Italia, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said: ‘I wish Conte continuing success in his professional life. Thank you, Antonio.’

The team enjoyed an open-top bus parade on Monday afternoon around the Bay of Naples to celebrate their second Scudetto in three seasons.

Napoli were indebted to former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay as he scored an acrobatic effort to steer Conte’s men to glory.

A 2-0 victory over Cagliari saw them finish above closest challengers Inter Milan by just one point in what was a titanic title race.

But Napoli are already appearing to prepare for life without Conte based on the comments of De Laurentiis.

He added: ‘I must give a sentimental embrace to this man, because he took on a team that was on the brink of disaster and together we reinforced it.

‘Then at a certain stage, he had to do without a star like Kvaratskhelia, he managed through incidents and injuries to make do with what he had, using not one, but four or five different tactical systems.

‘He showed the whole world that systems are useless, all you need is a great knowledge of what football really means.

‘So for him who took us all the way to win the second Scudetto in three years, I ask for an applause, thank you, thank you, thank you!’

Amid reports of Conte’s potential exit, Napoli have been linked with ex-Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri, who previously took over from Conte at Juventus immediately after he had won Serie A for The Old Lady.

It also marks the second time that Napoli could part ways with a coach just days after becoming league champions, as they did so with Luciano Spalletti in 2023.
